Anatomical Position
Erect with feet parallel and the arms hanging at the sides with the palms facing forward.
Directional Terms
Used to explain exactly where one body structure is in relation to another.

Cut
Plane
when a cut is made through the body wall or organ (along an imaginary line)
Sagittal
a longitudinal cut into right and left parts
Midsagittal
sagittal section made along the midline or median plane. Right and left parts are EQUAL.
Frontal (coronal)
lengthwise into anterior and posterior
Transverse
Section, horizontal plane into superior and inferior parts
