What is a b-lymphocyte?
riginate from bone marrow, activate when t-helper cells release chemicals, also when antibody molecules bind to complementary antigen
What do plasma cells do?
Produce antibodies to a particular antigen and release them into the circulation. An active plasma cell only lives for a few days
What do B effector cells do?
Divide to form plasma cell clones
What do B memory cells do?
Live for a long time and provide immunological memory, programmed to remember a specific antigen and enable the body to make a very rapid response when a pathogen carrying that antigen is encountered again
