Vagina
The vagina is a muscular and elastic tubular structure that connects the external genitals to the uterus, location where sperm is deposited
Ovary
The ovary is a reproductive organ in females that produces eggs (ova) and secretes hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, which are critical for regulating the menstrual cycle and supporting pregnancy.
Endometrium
The endometrium is the innermost lining of the uterus that thickens during the menstrual cycle in preparation for a potential implantation of a fertilized egg. It plays a crucial role in supporting pregnancy and is shed during menstruation if fertilization does not occur.
Uterus
A hollow, muscular organ in females that houses and nourishes a developing fetus during pregnancy.
Fallopian tube
A pair of tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus, where fertilization of an egg by sperm typically occurs.
Cervix
The cervix is the lower, narrow part of the uterus that connects the uterus to the vagina and plays a critical role during childbirth, allowing the passage of the baby while also serving as a barrier to protect the uterus from infection.
Scrotum
The pouch of skin that contains the testicles, helping to regulate their temperature for optimal sperm production.
Testis
The male reproductive organ responsible for producing sperm and hormones such as testosterone. Each testis is contained within the scrotum and is vital for male fertility.
Vans deferens
The duct that transports sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct. It is part of the male reproductive system and plays a crucial role in sperm maturation and delivery during ejaculation.
Epididymis
A coiled tube located at the back of each testis where sperm mature and are stored before ejaculation.
Seminal vesicle
releases component of semen (seminal fluid), mucous, fructose, amino acids, two glands that lie above prostate gland
Ejaculatory duct
A tube formed by the fusion of the vas deferens and the seminal vesicle, which transports sperm and seminal fluid to the urethra for ejaculation.
Urethra
The tube that carries urine from the bladder and semen from the reproductive tract out of the body.
Foreskin
A fold of skin that covers the glans of the penis, providing protection and sensation.
Cowper’s gland
Also known as the bulbourethral gland, it secretes a pre-ejaculatory fluid
Prostate gland
produces just under 40% of semen volume; thin, milky, alkaline substance that neutralized the acidity of the vagina
Glans penis
The sensitive bulbous tip of the penis that is partially covered by the foreskin in uncircumcised males.
