It is the entire set of items from which you draw data from for a statistical study
Population
A group of interests from the population which serves as a subset or good representation of the whole population
Sample
Also know as random sampling or representative sampling where it needs large population to be precisely defined.
Probability Sampling
Also called as judgement or non-random sampling where it does not have an equal chance or participation + it can be used for too general and specific populations
Non-Probability Sampling
Each and every element of the population has an equal chance of being selected in the sample
Simple Random Sampling
Every element of the population has no equal chance of being selected because it is selected through a specific “Interval”
Systematic Sampling
Uses homogeneous groups called “strata” to represent the whole population using a small sample
Stratified Sampling
Uses small groups called a “cluster”
Cluster Sampling
It is a combination of multiple probability sampling techniques and is usually used when it is not possible to get a sample with only one technique
Multi-Stage Sampling
Samples are selected by the researchers because it is more “convenient and reachable”
Convenience Sampling
It helps in dividing the population into strata or groups
Quota Sampling
This is where researchers choose whom they deem worthy of being a sample
Judgemental or Purposive Sampling
It helps researchers find samples when they are hard to locate. They find suitable subjects and ask help from them to get more similar subjects
Snowball Sampling
