The needs which emphasize Knowledge, Understanding, and Novelty. As humans, we have to know, understand and explore.
Aesthetic Needs
Needs which emphasize Symmetry, Order, and Beauty. It brings richness and joy to our lives (such as art, music, sports, nature)
Self-Actualization Needs
Fully developing out unique talents, capabilities and potential
Self-Transcendence
Giving up your own ego to assist others to your best ability
Linear Model
A one way process of interpersonal communication, it goes from sender to receiver.
Interactive Model
Listeners in this model now give feedback, but it still remains a one way model in either direction
Transactional Model
Model in which both the sender and receiver are defined as communicators
Interpersonal
Communication that take place between people
Selective Communication
If we dont want to communicate in the I-Thou level, we transition the conversation into the I-It level.
Systemic communication
Communication that is based on the context of the situation (time, people, culture, etc all affect its meaning)
Physiological noise
Noise from distractions such as hunger, tired, headaches, medications, etc
Physical noise
Noise from interference such as lights, temperature, crowding
Semantic noise
Using jargon or unnecessarily technical terms
Responsiveness
How aware of others and involved we are with them
Liking or affection
The degree of positive or negative feeling communicated
Power or control
The power balance between communicators
