Salvation History
The unfolding of God's plan for humanity throughout the Bible, divided into distinct stages.
Primeval History
The first stage of salvation history, which includes creation stories and portrays humanity's initial relationship with God.
Patriarchs
The second stage of salvation history where God forms a covenant with his Chosen People, Israel.
Covenant
A sacred agreement or promise made between God and his people.
Exodus
The journey of the Israelites led by Moses out of slavery in Egypt.
Commandments
The moral laws given by God to Moses, which guide human conduct in a covenant relationship.
Judges
Leaders raised up by God to deliver justice and defend the Israelites in the Promised Land.
The Promised Land
The land of Canaan that God promised to the Israelites.
Monarchy
The government under a king; in Israel, this began with Saul.
Prophets
Holy individuals chosen by God to deliver messages of warning and hope to the Israelites.
King Saul
The first king of Israel who was anointed by God.
King David
The second king of Israel, known as the greatest king.
King Solomon
The third king of Israel who built the Temple in Jerusalem.
Exile
The period when the Israelites were taken captive and removed from their homeland, especially to Babylon.
Redemption
The act of being saved from sin, error, or evil, primarily through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
God’s only Son, sent to redeem humanity and establish the Church.
Holy Spirit
The divine presence that empowers believers and guides the Church.
Messiah
The promised savior in the Christian faith, identified as Jesus Christ.
Salvation
The deliverance from sin and its consequences, granted by God through faith in Jesus.
Creation
The act of God bringing the universe and everything in it into existence.
Discipleship
The commitment to follow Jesus and spread his teachings.
