Physical Geography

The study of Earth’s natural features and how they are influenced by/ influence human activities.

Human Geography

The study how and why human events shape humans.

Spatial Perspective

The study of the arrangement and relationships of an event across land areas to better understand their relationship with humans, the environment, and culture.

Ecological Perspective

The relationship between living things and their environment.

Location

Where a point or thing is located.

Absolute Location

The exact location of something like coordinates or an address. 

Relative Location

The location of something in relation to it’s features or surroundings. 

Place

A location admired for its characteristics.

Site

Relating to the physical characterics of a specific location. 

Situation

The location of a place related to its surroundings and surrounding characteris. 

Mental Map

A reasonable accurate map of an area in your mind.

Space

Area between items on Earth’s surface.

Distribution

How things are distributed and arranged.

Density

The number of things in one area in how heavy ( a lot) or light ( little) the density is.

Pattern

How things are distributed in one place showing relationships and trends.

Flow

How humans tend to act & evolve.

Environmental Determinism

Theory that the physical characteristic such as the available resources determine the culture and development of the human society. 

Environmental Possibilism

A theory arguing that humans have the ability to produce results beyond what environmental determinism says. 

Sustainability

The Earth’s materials wisely enough to sustain future generations. 

Distance Decay

The theory that the CLOSER two or more locations are to each other, the MORE interactions they have with each other, and the FARTHER two or more locations are from each other, the LESS interactions they have with each other.
