Metaphor
A figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that isn't literally true but helps explain an idea or make a comparison by asserting that one thing is another.
Simile
A figure of speech that compares two different things using "like" or "as" to highlight similarities.
Dramatic irony
occurs when the audience knows more about a situation than the characters, creating tension or humor.
Situational irony
occurs when there is a discrepancy between what is expected to happen and what actually happens, often resulting in a humorous or poignant outcome.
Mood
the emotional atmosphere or tone of a literary work, affecting how readers feel.
Tone
the attitude or approach that an author takes toward the theme or subject of a literary work, influencing the reader's perception and emotional response.
Symbol
a person, place, thing, or event that has both a literal and figurative meaning, often representing larger concepts or ideas in a literary work.
