Test for STARCH :
add iodine solution to it
if starch is present, the solution will turn a dark blue-black color.
Negative result is yellow-brown (color of iodine solution)
procedure for Benedict’s solution test
Test for REDUCING SUGARS :
heat the sample with Benedict's solution
a color change from blue to green, yellow, or orange indicates the presence of a reducing sugar.
Negative result is blue color (color of benedict solution)
procedure for biuret test
Test for PROTEIN :
add Biuret solution to the sample
a purple color change indicates the presence of protein.
Negative result is blue color (color of biuret solution)
procedure for ethanol emulsion test
mix the sample with ethanol
if fats or oils are present, a cloudy emulsion will form when it is added to water
negative result is no change
Procedure for DCPIP test
add DCPIP solution to the sample
if vitamin C is present, the blue DCPIP solution will become colorless.
