How do Civil Rights Movements attempt to apply Civil Liberties to all citizens, and why?

By upholding the Due Process and Equal Protections Clauses, civil rights movements ensure that all citizens regardless of race are granted the civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.

Why these clauses? The Due process clause states that no person can be deprived of life, liberty, or property without proper legal procedures. The Equal protections clause states all American citizens should be treated equally under the law, which would prohibit discrimination under the federal government. By upholding these 2 clauses, civil rights movements would argue that these protections must be applied universally to eliminate unjust policy and dissemination.
