What is Histology?
The study of tissues within an organism.
What are the four main types of tissue?
Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nervous.
What are the functions of Epithelial Tissue?
Tissues that cover surfaces, provide protection, absorption, secretion, and sensory functions.
What are the types of Epithelial Tissues?
Covering and lining epithelium and glandular epithelium.
What are the cells of Connective Tissue?
Plasma cells, fat cells, mast cells, amoebocytes, histocytes, macrophages.
What are the types of Connective Tissue?
Loose connective tissue, dense connective tissue, and special connective tissue.
What are the types of special connective tissue?
Blood, bone, and cartilage.
What are the cells in blood?
Erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes.
What cells are in Loose connective Tissue?
Fibroblasts.
What are the types of Muscle Tissue?
Striated Muscle, Smooth Muscle, and Cardiac Muscle.
What are the general functions of Muscle Tissue?
Contractility, elasticity, excitability, and extensibility.
Where is Cardiac Muscle found?
Found in the walls of the heart.
What are the types of Neurons?
Afferent (sensory neuron), efferent (motor neuron), and glial cells.
What are the cells of Nervous Tissue?
Neurons and Glial cells.
What is the function of Neurons?
Transmit and conduct nervous impulses.
