Manufacturing of large quantities of standardized products, often using assembly lines.
Mass Customization
A manufacturing process that allows for the customization of products at a high volume.
Lean Manufacturing
A production practice that considers the expenditure of resources in any aspect other than the direct creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful.
Servitization
The transformation of a business model from selling products to providing services.
Product-Service Systems (PSS)
Business model that combines physical products and services to fulfill customer needs.
Customer Order Decoupling Point (CODP)
The point in the production process where the product is linked to a specific customer order.
Configuration of Product Platforms
Designing structures that allow for the customization of products from a common base.
Application Service Providing (ASP)
A service model where applications are hosted by a provider and made available to customers over the internet.
Software as a Service (SaaS)
A software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a third-party provider and made available to customers over the internet.
Single-Code Base
A software development approach where a single version of the code serves multiple customers.
Bespoke Software
Custom-built software designed specifically for a particular organization or user.
Standard ERP
Enterprise Resource Planning software that is standardized and widely used across various sectors.
Modularity
A design principle that divides a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems.
Economies of Scale
Cost advantages gained by an increased level of production.
