Joints/Articulations

  • Where two bones meet

  • Some are movable and some are immobile

    • Ex. Immobile = Skull joints, Pubic Symphysis

    • Ex. Movable joints – knee, shoulder, hip, etc.  

      • Synovial Joints 

Synovial membrane and synovial fluid lubricate the joint

  • Advantage:  Large range of motion

  • Disadvantage:  Easily damaged because so mobile
