Joints/Articulations
Where two bones meet
Some are movable and some are immobile
Ex. Immobile = Skull joints, Pubic Symphysis
Ex. Movable joints – knee, shoulder, hip, etc.
Synovial Joints
Synovial membrane and synovial fluid lubricate the joint
Advantage: Large range of motion
Disadvantage: Easily damaged because so mobile

Carpometacarpal joint of the thumb; allows flexion / extension, abduction / adduction
