making a custom tray:

- Draw in a red pencil where tray border will be on preliminary cast

- At the depth of the vestibule in tooth areas

- ....mm short of the vestibular depth in tissue-supported areas

If pressing on the tissue stops .... causes anterior portion of the framework to lift away from the teeth, altered cast should be performed
