5 Kingdoms of living things
Animal: Moose (Multicellular); Plant: Tree (Multicellular); Fungi: Mushroom (Multicellular); Protist: Algae (Can be Unicellular or Multicellular); Bacteria: E. coli (Unicellular)
difference between Unicellular and Multicellular organisms
Unicellular organisms are made of one cell, while Multicellular organisms are made of many cells.
Gas Exchange?
Oxygen diffuses into the cell and carbon dioxide diffuses out.
unicellular organisms respond to their environment?
They detect changes using methods like sensing chemicals or light, instead of 5 senses like humans.
Define Movement
A change in the shape or figure of all or part of an organism.
Define Locomotion.
Movement from one place to another.
Name the 5 Organ Systems.
Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Musculoskeletal, and Nervous Systems.
Circulatory System? purpose
To transport nutrients, gases, and wastes to and from cells.
Respiratory System? pursose
To exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between blood and the external environment.
Digestive System? purpose
To break down food into small particles (nutrients) that can be transported to all cells.
Musculoskeletal System? purpose
To provide structure/support, protect internal organs, and enable movement/locomotion.
Nervous System? purpose
To respond to changes in the body's environment and coordinate the functions of all other organ systems.
