institutional sins

Sins that are established "norms" or laws in a society. Ex: The Death Penalty

charity

responding to people's immediate needs such as food, clothing, water, shelter, etc.

social justice

Fighting for the common good by addressing the reasons why people are without adequate resources a human needs to survive.

conscience

The ability to control, monitor, and evaluate our actions.

It is our intellect in action.

The quality of being honest and having strong morals.

a firm belief in the reliability of someone or something.

Living of life filled with love for others like Christ.

Prudence

The virtue of moderation and self-control. Balancing the pleasures of life with moderation.

Fortitude

The virtue of having strength and courage to overcome our obstacles to living a morally righteous life.

Theological Virtues

The three virtues that are the source of energy for perfecting and deepening our knowledge and relationship with God.

The virtue of believing in God both spiritually and through our actions.

Hope

The virtue of trusting in God. It inspires us to overcome discouragement during times of hardship.

Love

The virtue of loving God and our neighbor. This is the greatest of all the virtues.

Gift of the Holy Spirit that allows us to comprehend how we are to live our lives modeled after Christ. This gift helps us realize who God is for us and what we are called to do.

Reverence

Gift of the Holy Spirit that gives us a deep sense of respect for God. We come before God with the trust of a small child--totally dependent on the One who created us

Joy

Fruit of the Holy Spirit that is interior contentment that comes from being in a loving relationship with God and others

Patience

Fruit of the Holy Spirit that allows us to suffer interruptions or delays with composure and without complaint

Kindness

Fruit of the Holy Spirit that is a warm and friendly disposition towards others

Gentleness

Fruit of the Holy Spirit that is sensitivity and concern for another's welfare, safety, and security.
