What is half life?
It is the time required for ahlf of the nuciei in a radioactive sample to decay
What is collision theory/collision model?
Particles in reactantrs move around and collide witheachother. Most collisions don’t result in anything but sometimes, they collide and cause the bonds in exsiting moleclues to make new molecules.
What is an effective collision are the must haves to have one?
It is when a collision makes a new product, and to have one there are two must haves:
proper geometry
minimum activation energy
What are the factors affecting rates and collision theory?
concentration
surface area (size of solid particles
temeperature of reactants
nature of reactants
presense of a catalyst
What are reaction mechanisms?
They are a series of simple steps that ultimatelyes lead from initial reactants to final products of a reaction
What two steps need to followed for a mechanism to be valid?
account for the experiementally determined rate law
be consistant wirth the stoichiometry of the overall or net reaction
What is molecularity?
It is the numbers of reactants involved in an elemantary step
