Carbon Source
process or activity that releases carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere; Releases carbon.
Carbon Source (examples)
volcanic eruptions, forest fires, and animal respiration, breathing.
Carbon sink (examples)
plants, the ocean and soil.
Photosynthesis
pulls carbon dioxide out of the air
Respiration (breathing)
puts carbon dioxide into the air.

Runoff
Water that flows over the land surface and into bodies of water without soaking into the ground.
Zone of aeration

Zone of saturation
The area in soil below the water table where all spaces are filled with water.
Ground Moraine
A layer of till (Glacier debris) left behind as a glacier melts and retreats.
Terminal Moraine
A ridge of debris deposited at the furthest point reached y the glacier.
