Purbah Iron age Hillfort, Austria that contains a range of environments and feature types
Mapped by ground survey in 1960s
LiDAR scan done in early spring when deciduous trees were still leafless and created detail DTM
Findings: Known features confirmed
Ramparts, ditches, walls that had been previously mapped were confirmed
Findings: new features
Many very low earthworks were not identified in orginal survey
Original 56 round barrows could almost doubled
Findings: Clearance pile problem
LiDAR very effective in parts of the graveyard covered by clearance piles
These were able to be removed from the DTM and showed barrow traces beneath
