Basic Tablet Dosage
A calculation to determine how many tablets to administer using (Desired Dose / Available Dose) × Quantity.
Desired Dose
The amount of medication the prescriber wants the patient to receive.
Available Dose
The amount of drug contained in one tablet or unit (per tablet).
Quantity
The number of tablets to dispense to reach the desired dose.
Tablet Dosage Formula
Dose = (Desired Dose / Available Dose) × Quantity.
Order
The prescribed amount of medication to be given.
Available: 250 mg Tablets
Each tablet provides 250 mg of active drug.
Calculation (tablet)
The arithmetic process of deriving the number of tablets from the order and tablet strength.
