Generalization
Behavior that occurs in the presence of a stimulus that is similar to that used during training, indicating behavior change that exists beyond the training program.
Response Generalization
Extension of behavior change to different but similar behaviors, leading to changes in unaddressed, related responses.
Stimulus Generalization
Behavior change that takes place in new or different settings and circumstances from the original training environment.
Behavioral Trap
A strategy where a behavior developed through programmed reinforcers is maintained by natural reinforcers in the environment.
In Situ Training
Training that occurs in the natural environment after an assessment where the person does not perform the target behavior.
Booster Program
Additional intervention sessions conducted to restore or maintain skills learned in the original training program.
Functional Response Class
A range of responses that serve the same function and lead to the same outcomes, allowing for flexibility in achieving goals.
Natural Contingencies
Antecedents and consequences that naturally occur in the environment, affecting the target behavior.
General Case Training
A training strategy that uses a variety of antecedents and responses to ensure transfer of skills beyond the training context.
Self-Recording
The act of individuals recording their own behaviors, which can promote generalization of learned skills.
