Relation
A relation is a set of ordered pairs.
Ordered Pair
A pair (x, y) representing an input-output in a relation.
Domain
The domain is the set of all x-values (first coordinates) in a relation.
Range
The range is the set of all y-values (second coordinates) in a relation.
Function
A function is a relation in which every x has a unique y.
f(x)
f(x) denotes the function value at x, read 'f of x'.
One-to-One Correspondence
Each input x is paired with exactly one output y.
Many-to-One Correspondence
Many inputs x can map to the same output y.
One-to-Many Correspondence
One input x can map to multiple outputs y.
Not a Function
A relation that is not a function because some x maps to more than one y.
Function in Ordered Pair Form
A function represented as a set of ordered pairs, e.g., {(1,6), (2,7), (3,8)}.
Function in Tabular Form
A function represented as a table of input-output pairs.
Function in Set Notation / Open Sentence
A function described using set notation or an open sentence (e.g., y = f(x)).
Function in Arrow Diagram / Mapping
A visual representation showing how each input maps to its output.
Function in Graphical Form
A graph illustrating the relationship between x and y for the function.
