Organism

An individual living being, such as a plant, animal, or microorganism.

Population

A group of organisms of the same species living in the same area and interacting with one another.

Biological community

All the populations of different species living and interacting in a particular area.

Ecosystem

A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment. This includes living (biotic) and nonliving (abiotic) factors.

Biome

A large geographical area characterized by its climate, soil, and distinctive plant and animal communities.

Biosphere

The global sum of all ecosystems on Earth, including all living organisms and their interactions with the physical environment.
