Movement of solute molecules, high to low concentration

Osmosis

Diffusion of water through selective permeable membrane

Tonicity

Describes what happens to cell volume after being put into a solution

Isotonic

No net movement, concentration of solute = solution

Hypotonic

Water goes into the cell

Hypertonic

Water goes out of the cell
