Allusion
a direct or indirect reference- through and image or through dialogue- to the bible, a classic, a place
epiphany
a moment of sudden spiritual insight for the protagonist of a film, usually occurs just before or after the climax
foil
an acting role that is used for personality comparision or contrast, usually with the protagonist or main character, as a means to show and highlight a character trait.
mise en scene
a French term for staging or putting into the scene or shot . in film theory it refers to all the elements placed by the director before the camera
non-diegetic score
any sound that does not originate from within the films world. the films characters are not able to hear the non-diegetic sound. all no diegetic sound is added by sound editors in post production
stock character
a minor character whose actions are completely predictable, stereotypical , or standard for his/her job
subtext
the deeper meanings of a characters actions or spoken lines. subtext encourages the audience to read between lines to discern the true meaning of a film
