spectroscopy
How scientists study things by looking at patterns of color in light.

A band of colors, as seen in a rainbow, produced by separation of parts of light according to their wavelengths.

The act of releasing, discharging, or sending out substances and energy.

The way different parts, elements, or ingredients are put together, arranged, or combined to form a whole.

Something that happens or exists without any interruption, gaps, or pauses.

A pure substance consisting of only one type of atom, which cannot be broken down into simpler substances by ordinary chemical means.

Energy, either as particles or waves, that travels from a source through space.
