Qutbuddin Aibak (AD1206-AD1210)

He had begun his career as a humble slave of Muhammad Ghori. He constructed the first Islamic monuments, 1each at Delhi and Ajmer. He died in AD 1210 during a fall from a horse while playing "CHAUGAN" at Lahore.

Iltutmish (AD1211-AD1236)

He was a Slave of Qutbuddin Aibak and later became his son-in-law. He created the group of forty nobles known as "CHALISA" or the "The Forty". He defeated the rulers of Multan and Ghazni. He also completed the Qutub Minar monument which was left unconstructed after Qutbuddin Aibak died.

Raziya Sultan (AD1236-AD1240)

She came to the throne after her father Iltutmish died. Being a woman she had to face great opposition and rebellion from the nobles. She was later defeated by Altuniya(Leader of the rebels) but she married him to recover the throne back. The nobles plotted against her and she was put to death.

Nasir-Ud-Din Mahmud,the youngest son of Iltutmish ascended the throne. He was weak & hence left the administration to his advisor Ghiyas-Ud-Din Balban. HE took many steps to consolidate his position and crushed many revolts and ruled with an iron hand.Balban also destryoed the the "CHALISA"

He was the first ruler of the Khilji Dynasty. He sent his nephew Alauddin on a mission to conquer Devagiri in Deccan. He was victorious there. When he returned to delhi wiith riches, Jalaluddin came forward to greet him, Alauddin stabbed him.

He was a great scholar and the only sultan to have received good education. He has often been described as “Mixture of Opposites“ because he was cruel as well as kind. He also made some bad decisions like strict taxation, transfer of capital from Delhi to devagiri and again back to Delhi causing a lot of loss of common people.

He faced a difficult situation. The empire was shrinking. He focused on administrative reforms, irrigation projects, and building infrastructure while promoting agriculture and trade.
