Cell membrane

Surrounds the cell and decides what can or cannot enter the cell.

Nucleus

Control center for all cell functions.

Nucleolus

Makes ribosomes.

Nuclear Membrane

Surrounds nucleus which separates it from the cytoplasm.

Cytoplasm

The empty space in a cell; this consists of mainly water.

Ribosomes

Composed of RNA; center of protein synthesis.

Mitochondria

Where cellular respiration occurs.

Chloroplast

Contains chlorophyll (green pigment).

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Transports materials within the cell.

Rough ER

ER involved in protein synthesis.

Smooth ER

ER involved in nonprotein synthesis.

Golgi Apparatus

Processes and packages proteins.

Lysosomes

Breaks down cellular waste.

Vacuole

Stores water, nutrients, and waste.

Centrosome

Organizes microtubules.

Centrioles

In centrosome; necessary for movement of chromosomes.

Cell Wall

Provides cell support.

Cytoskeleton

Maintains cell shape.
