the rigid part of the headrest should be as high as your eyes/top of ears and as close to the back of the head as comfortable. some head restraints aren’t adjustable

how would you check the tyre tread depth and general condition

tread depth should be at least 1.6mm and no cuts/bulges on the tyre

how would you check the headlights and taillights are working

explain that you would turn on the lights and ignition, then walk around the vehicle to check

how do you know if there is a problem with the anti lock braking system

a warning light will illuminate

how would you check the direction indicators are working

explain that you would turn on ignition and switch the indicators on then walk round the vehicle to check

how would you check the brake lights are working

operate the brake pedal and either use reflections or ask someone to help check they are working

how would you check the power assisted steering is working

if the steering feels heavy it may have a problem. check power assistance is working when you pull off by gently moving the wheel, the car should follow.

how would you switch on the rear fog lights and when are they used

turn on ignition and operate dipped headlight switch. check the warning light is on. used when there is low visibility.

how do you switch from dipped headlights to full beam and how do you know full beam is on

operate switch with ignition and check for the warning light

how would you check the engine has sufficient oil

open the bonnet and use the dipstick to check the oil levels. should be between the max and minimum level

how would you check the engine has sufficient coolant

open bonnet and identify level is between high and low markers on the container and fill up if needed

how would you check you have a sufficient level of hydraulic acid

open bonnet and identify the hydraulic acid reservoir and check the level is between the high and low markings
