process aimed at reforming Russian agriculture ,merge traditional small farms into larger ‘collective’ farms

collective farms where land was held in common and run by an elected committee, had to meet gov quotas

what was Sovkhozy type farm?

owned and run by the State. Peasants paid regular wage

what were the benefits of collectivisation?

look labour and resources and so operate more efficiently , easier for State to procure grain

state provided tractors and fertilisers
