Bunsen Burner
a small adjustable gas burner used in laboratories
Pipestem Triangle
used to support a crucible or other object being heated by a Bunsen burner or other heat source
Evaporating Dish
a small ceramic dish in which liquids are heated over a flame so that they evaporate, leaving a solid residue
Test Tube
a thin glass tube closed at one end, used to hold small amounts of material for laboratory testing or experiments
Beaker
a lipped cylindrical glass container for laboratory use
Gas bottle
Used to store gas from experiment
Ring Stand
a piece of laboratory equipment consisting of a heavy base, a vertical rod, and a clamp or ring for holding various lab apparatus
Utility Clamp
lab tool with adjustable metal jaws used to securely hold glassware, like flasks or test tubes, to a stand during experiments
Iron Ring
comprised of a metal ring-like loop, used to hold various lab equipment, that usually cannot be placed on flat surfaces
Mortar and Pestle
a tool used for grinding, crushing, and mixing solid or semi-solid materials
Crucible and Cover
Crucible → heat-resistant container used to hold materials during high-temperature processes like melting or heating chemicals
Cover → used to protect the contents of the crucible from contamination by the surrounding environment during heating
Erlenmeyer Flask
a conical flat-bottomed laboratory flask with a narrow neck
Wire Gauze
sheet of metallic wire mesh with a fireproof fabric (e.g., ceramic) woven in the center, used to support beakers or other flasks when heated with an open flame
Safety Googles
a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect the eyes from hazards such as flying debris, dust, splashes, and impacts
Corks
Corks are commonly used in laboratories as stoppers for test tubes and flasks, forming a tight seal due to their elasticity and low permeability
Watch Glass
circular concave piece of glass used in chemistry as a surface to:
evaporate a liquid
to hold solids while being weighed
for heating a small amount of substance
and as a cover for a beaker
Tongs
often made of metal, used for grasping and lifting objects, particularly those that are hot or potentially hazardous, instead of handling them directly with hands
Balance
sensitive instrument used to measure the mass of a substance or object with a high degree of accuracy and precision
Lab Burner
used to heat samples with high or low heat, for sterilization, to bend glass tubing or rods, or for other purposes
Test tube holder/clamps
used to securely hold a test tube, especially when heating or handling potentially dangerous materials
Buret/Volumetric Pipette
a graduated glass tube with a tap at one end, for delivering known volumes of a liquid → high accuracy due to small increments
Pipette
a slender tube attached to or incorporating a bulb, for transferring or measuring out small quantities of liquid, especially in a laboratory
Thermometer
an instrument for measuring and indicating temperature
Graduated Cylinder
a piece of laboratory glassware, typically cylindrical in shape, used to accurately measure the volume of liquids
Wash Bottle
a squeeze bottle with a nozzle, used to rinse various pieces of laboratory glassware, such as test tubes and round bottom flasks
Micropipettes
used to transfer small amounts (< 1 ml) of liquids
Dropper
a short glass tube with a rubber bulb at one end and a tiny hole at the other, for measuring out drops of medicine or other liquids
Forceps
a pair of pincers or tweezers used in surgery or in a laboratory
File
physical tool used for abrasive material removal
Wire Brush
a tool with bristles made of wire, typically steel, used for cleaning, surface preparation, and removing debris from various materials like metal and wood
Well Plate
a flat plate with multiple small wells used as miniature test tubes in chemistry, biology, and pharmaceutical research
Scoopula
a tool used for transferring and handling small amounts of solid materials, particularly in laboratory settings
Spatula
a tool used in scientific settings for tasks like scraping, transferring, or applying powders, pastes, and other materials
Funnel
a tube or pipe that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, used for guiding liquid or powder into a small opening
Test-tube rack
a laboratory equipment used to hold test tubes upright, typically in a vertical position, to prevent them from tipping over and spilling their contents
