Broad group of diseases, when cells grow and divide out of control, results from a change in DNA that changes the cell cycle. Not infectious
Cancer cell
Cell that divides uncontrollably despite messages from surrounding cells/nucleus to stop growing
tumour
Mass of cells that continue to grow and divide without function in the body
benign tumour
A tumour that does not affect surrounding tissues other than by physically crowding them. Has no serious effect
malignant tumour
Interferes functioning of surrounding cells. Cancerous

The spread of cancer to other body parts
