We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union,

in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice,

establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility,

IV-V

insure domestic Tranquility, provide for a common defense,

V-VI

provide for a common defense, promote the general Welfare,

VI-VII

promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Prosperity,

VII-VIII

and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Prosperity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
