raises lower jaw and clenches teeth when mouth is closed

platysma

extends lower lip and wrinkles skin of neck

sternocleidomastoideus

draws head toward shoulder on contracting muscle side; when both act, head is flexed onto chest.

semispinalis capitis

when both muscles act, head is extended; when one is acting alone, head is rotated toward side of contracting muscle.

rectus abdominis

flexes vertebral column and compresses abdomincal organs

external oblique

compresses abdominal organs and rotates and flexes vertebral column

pectoralis major

adducts and rotates upper arm forward

trapezius

raises shoulder and draws scapula backward

serratus anterior

moves forward and downward

deltoid

abducts arm

latissimus dorsi

adducts arm and draws shoulder don and backward

flexes the forearm and rotates it outward (sopinates)
