911 INVESTIGATION

This is used when receiving a hang up or an open line and the call taker is unable to verify if there is an emergency or not.

Only used for planned calls of prior city ordinances that have been tagged for 48 hour tow.

Calls regarding a barking dog or any call where Animal Control has to respond after hours.

Someone is being harmed physically by another person either currently or just occurred.

ASSAULT W WEAPON

An assault where a weapon was used. This would include vehicles intentionally used as weapons.

BREAK

Used for when officers are on break at a location.

BURGLARY DELAYED

When a building (business, shed, detached garage), house, vehicle or coin operated machine has been broken into. Not currently happening.

When a building (business, shed, detached garage), house, vehicle or coin operated machine is being broken into or just occurred.

CITIZEN ASSIST

This is when a citizen calls for help with something that isn't criminal or an officer initiates contact with a citizen that isn't crime related.

CITY ORDINANCE VIOLATION

When an ordinance that is established by the City of Lewisville has been violated.

CIVIL COMPLAINT

Citizen has a problem that needs to be addressed by going through court or if they need a civil standby to get belongings from a location.

CLOSE PATROL

This is an officer initiated call and also a nature code we use when we enter in close patrols at businesses, houses, or neighborhoods where residents are concerned due to recent criminal activity.

COMMERCIAL BURG ALARM

Alarm called in for a business by an alarm company.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE VIOLATION

Someone has been seen using a controlled substance or it can be smelled in the area.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF DELAYED

Someone has damaged someone else's property but not recently.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF IN PROGRESS

Someone is actively, or recently (within 10-30 minutes ago) damaged someone else's property.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Resident or business wants to criminally trespass subject/s from their property who is currently onsite.

CROSSING GUARD

An officer is needed for a crossing guard due to crossing guard not being available for Lewisville schools.

DISABLED MOTOR VEHICLE

Vehicle is disabled and not in a lane of traffic.

DISTURBANCE

Verbal fight/disturbance called in.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

Someone calls in a driver that is believed to be intoxicated based on driving factors such as swerving/unable to maintain a lane, brake checking, slow/fast speed and/or caller states 'I think the driver may be drunk or on something'.

Emergency Operations Center

Used when there any major incidents that have occurred. Could include mass casualty incident, extreme weather involving a tornado touching down and causing major damage, flooding, etc.

ESCAPED PRISONER

Subject in police custody escapes.

FIREWORKS

Caller is reporting fireworks going off.

FLOCK HIT

Used when vehicle drives past the Flock license plate reader with an NCIC entry attached. Could be for warrant, stolen vehicle, missing person, or could be related to cases.

FOLLOW UP

Mostly an officer initiated call but sometimes a citizen could prompt the call. Used when a report has already been taken, but further information needs to be added to it.

FORGERY/FRAUD IN PROGRESS

Someone's identity, credit cards, bank accounts, etc are being used by someone other than themselves or someone is trying to use counterfeit money/checks.

Someone has found an elderly person or child that is by themselves and may not know where they are/who they are.

Property has been located or discovered by someone that it does not belong to.

HARASSMENT DELAYED

Citizen calls in to advise that they are being harassed or threatened by phone, text, email, etc but not recently (30+ minutes). Ex. Caller advises she is being harassed and stalked by her ex boyfriend. Last night he said he was en route to her parents house and threatened to break in and burn the house down.

HARASSMENT IN PROGRESS

Citizen calls in to advise that they are being harassed or threatened in person, or by phone, text, email, etc currently. Ex. Caller's ex-wife is currently outside of his house and is banging on the door. Nothing physical has occurred but she's refusing to leave.

HOLD UP ALARM

Alarm called in by an alarm company that is a higher priority than a regular burglary alarm. This alarm is usually set off when someone at the location is in immediate danger. Can be commercial or residential. Ex. Alarm company calls in that the hold up button has been pressed at Taco Bell and they are requesting officers dispatched to the location.

INDECENT EXPOSURE DELAYED

A subject/s has done something inappropriate/indecent but not in the last 30+ minutes. This can include sexual relations/acts, exposing genitalia, sending inappropriate texts/pictures, etc. Ex. Caller and her sister were at Target and saw a male with his pants down and exposed genitalia. Caller reported this to the store security and left.

INDECENT EXPOSURE IN PROGRESS

A subject/s is actively or just did something inappropriate/indecent within the last 30 minutes. This can include sexual relations/acts, exposing genitalia, sending inappropriate texts/pictures, etc. Ex. Caller is in her car in the grocery store parking lot and sees a male standing outside urinating next to his car.

INFORMATION

Used when the complaint given does not fall under any other nature codes. Ex. Caller says for the past two weeks someone has left their trash next to callers trash. Caller wants to speak to an officer about this.

INTOXICATED PERSON

Someone calls in on someone under the influence of alcohol or unknown substance. Usually the caller states that the subject is not acting normally, but does not require a medical response. Ex. Intoxicated male at Chill Bar and Grill refusing to leave.

JAIL EMERGENCY

Jail keys up, sets off emergency button or calls in needing officers immediately. Officers are sent immediately to assist. Ex. Jail staff keys up with a prisoner fighting them and they need officer assistance.

JAIL MEDICAL PRISONER

Jail calls and requests an officer to take the prisoner to the hospital. (the old injured prisoner) Ex. Inmate having diabetic problems and needs a blood sugar check or to be taken to the hospital.

JUVENILE COMPLAINT

Juveniles are causing a disruption and complaint does not relate to any other nature code.

KIDNAPPING DELAYED

This is used when a known kidnapping has occurred and someone has been taken against their own free will (30+ minute delay).

KIDNAPPING IN PROGRESS

This is used when a kidnapping is occurring at the time of the call or the time lapse is less than 30 minutes.

LOST PERSON?

Lost Child - This is used when someone has lost their child. Example: I'm at Wal Mart and I can't find my child! I turned around for a second and now she's gone! Lost Elderly: This is used when someone has lost an elderly person. Example: I think my dad wandered out of the house. I can't find him anywhere!

MESSAGE DELIVERY

Message needs to be delivered to someone. Could be notice of someone being released from jail, death notification, or EPO delivery.

MINOR ACCIDENT

This is when there is a vehicle accident called in where there are no injuries. If injuries are not confirmed then the call will be made a Major Accident.

MISSING PERSON

This is used when someone wants to report a person 11 years of age or older that has not been seen or heard from.

NOISE DISTURBANCE

This is used when someone reports loud noise. This could include loud music or people.

PARKING VIOLATION

This is used when a vehicle is illegally parked. Some examples may include a vehicle parked in a no parking zone, fire lane, or handicap spot without a permit being displayed.

This is used when an officer initiates a stop with someone on foot. This could also be used when an officer stops someone on a bicycle.

PERSON WITH A WEAPON

This is used when someone wants to report seeing someone with a weapon. This includes a weapon being pointed at someone or someone showing a weapon and making threats with it.

POSITIVE POLICE INTERACTION

This is used when an officer initiates contact with a citizen or business in order to build the relationship with the community.

PRISONER PICKUP

This call is used when we get notification of a prisoner that needs to be picked up from another agency on our warrants or when our jail has subjects that need to be transported to Denton County Jail.

RECKLESS DRIVER

Someone is driving reckless causing concern either for the driver or other drivers around them. Currently the call type for suspect DWI.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY ALARM

This is used when an alarm company calls to report that a residence has an alarm activation and is requesting we dispatch officers to the scene.

This is used when someone has something taken from them with force and/or with weapon displayed and the time lapse is 30+ minutes.

ROBBERY IN PROGRESS

This is used when someone has something taken from them with force and/or with weapon displayed and the time lapse is less than 30 minutes.

SEXUAL ASSAULT DELAYED

This is used when someone is reporting that they've been sexually assaulted and the time lapse is 30+ minutes.

This is used when someone is reporting that they've been sexually assaulted less than 30 minutes ago.

SHOPLIFTER IN CUSTODY

This is used when a business calls in a shoplifter that they already have in custody.

This is used when gun shots have been heard in the area.

This is used when officers are working a special operation either within or outside of the city limits.

This is used when officers are working an event within the city.

This is used when there are reports of any kind of suspicious activity.

This is used when SWAT is called out for an incident.

This is used when there are reports of anything obstructing the flow of traffic and causing a hazard.

TRAFFIC SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT

This is an officer initiated call. This is used when officers are pulling drivers over for particular violations.

This is used when there is a business or house that is unsecure.

This is used when a vehicle alarm is sounding.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE/VMO

This is an officer initiated call. An officer will check out on VMO when he/she is having vehicle issues or is getting fuel.
