middle class who were afraid of domination of France by Paris.

Created the national convention. Dominated Paris, led to the reign of terror.
National convention
introduced public education, abolished slavery. Responsible for Louis 16 death (jacobins)
Jean Pual Marat
influential voice for the most radical people of the revolution. He was murdered by Charlotte Corday because she thought that if he was dead then violence would stop.
Committee of public safety
secure domestic support at home and waging war against the enemies. Robespierre + Dantonan, executive government body during the French Revolution, tasked with protecting the Republic from foreign and domestic threats, notably overseeing the Reign of Terror.
Robespierre
guillotined so many of his supporters everyone was afraid of him. He was a leading figure in the French Revolution who became infamous for his role in the Reign of Terror and his radical policies.
Revolutionary Tribunal
enemies of the revolution, arrest and execute them to try and punish the perceived enemies of the French Revolution. It played a crucial role during the Reign of Terror.
Examples of violence during the reign of terror:
Loire drownings, executions by guillotine, mass arrests, and civil unrest.

was created by European nations to try and put a stop to the French revolution. Austria, Prussia, Britain
Thermidorian Reaction:
ended the committee of public safety, stopped the executions. It was a return to normalcy.
Example of De-Christianization
During the revolution street names and christian calendars were changed by revolutionaries because they believed religion wasn’t based on reason.
The Mountain
The mountain was a radical political group led by Jean Paul Marat. The mountain felt that if something was good for Paris, then it was good for all of France.
Napoleon
Napoleon was chosen by the Directory but Napoleon named himself king.
