where is the issue with omniscience and free will
if God knows everything, he knows every action I will perform, including future ones so I cannot perform actions freely
why do we not want to abandon free will
it is an essential part of religion, gives our lies moral significance and meaning
If God is everlasting but NOT eternal, what would that mean
he could be existing outside of time alongside us, not knowing what will happen
what is a flaw with the everlasting solution
reduces god’s power too significantly
what is the compatabilist solution to God and free will
you can change your mind from what God wills you to do, but you never will change your mind - the fact that I will do it is contingnent
for compatibilists, i will do action x does not mean
i must do action x
what other kind of being could we argue god is
an eternal being
what does t-simultaneous mean
two events or being exist at the same time
what does e-simultaneous mean
two events or beings occurring in the same eternal present
how could we argue god exists/experiences time
et-simultaneity
describe et-simultaneity
from god’s timeless perspective, every event occurs within the timeless present
whats an issue with the et-simultaneity argument
if there is no time from god’s perspective, that would make time a human illusion, making all statements about time false (we don’t agree with this)
how have people argued that change isn’t an issue for god
people mistakenly assume that change means a change to god’s perfection
issue with the argument that change doesn’t impact god’s perfection
being perfect means being complete and never in a state of potential
