What is the Foreign Policy?

• Neutrality

• When France and Britain were at war the U.S didn’t know who to support. So, They decided to avoid taking sides in any European conflict.

What is the Farewell Address?

When George Washington ended his final term he gave a farewell speech and mentioned two possible threats

• NO Political Parties ( GW said to avoid political parties)

• NO Foreign Alliances (GW said to avoid alliances with other countries

Who were the members of the first Cabinet, what were their titles, and roles.

• Edmund Randolph (Attorney General) : Advised the government on legal matters

• Henry Knox (Secretary of War) : Oversaw the nation’s defences

• Thomas Jefferson (Secretary of State) : Oversaw relations between the United States and other countries

• Alexander Hamilton (Secretary of Treasury) : Oversaw the governments money

What were the 3 parts to Alexander Hamilton’s Financial Plan?

1. Pay off all war debts

2. Raise governments revenue through taxes and tariffs

3. Create a National Bank — *Est in Philly

What were the effects of Alexander Hamilton’s Financial Plan?

1. Economic Policies opposed by the south (AH asked the Southern States Debts from the War but they didn’t want to)

2. But AH created a compromise (Reached for support if he Supported Capital move to the South — Washington D.C) AH proposed to the south that if they paid the debt’s of the northern states the U.S. Capital would permanently be in the South aka Washington D.C.
