Cell Wall
Made of cellulose or chitin. This tough structure surrounds some type of cells to provide structure and protection.
Chloroplast
Captures solar energy and converts to chemical energy in the form of carbohydrates.
Centriole
Organizes microtubes that serve as the cells skeletal system.
Cell/Plasma Membrane
Controls what enters and exits a cell.
Nucleus
Contains the genetic information for the cell (DNA) and directs the cell’s activities.
Nucleolus
Makes ribosomes inside the nucleus.
Vacuole
The storage organelle
Flagellum
The threadlike structure that provides locomotion to the cell.
Smooth ER
Manufactures lipids/membranes
Rough ER
synthesizes proteins for the cell membrane. Contains ribosomes to help finish the proteins.
Golgi Body/Apparatus
Sorts, modifies, and packages proteins and lipids to be exported from the cell.
Cytoplasm
The aqueous portion of the cell contains water, ions, and organic molecules.
Mitochondria
Produces energy for the cell (In the form of ATP) through cellular respiration.
Ribosomes
The site of protein synthesis, links amino acids together in the order specified by messenger RNA.
Vesicle
Moves things around
