what are the chromosome types?
Sex chromosomes: x and y
Autosomes: all the other 22 chromosomes
Gametogenesis
the process by which diploids are turned into gametes/sex cells/haploids, in women it’s oogenesis, in men, it’s spermatogenesis
What are germ cells?
future sperm and egg cells which are developed when one is an embryo , they live in the testes/ovaries
Differences between sperm and egg cells
sperms only have a nucleus and little organelles so they can be fast, while egg cells have lots of organelles so they can support the zygote that the sperm and egg cell produce
what is spermatogenesis
germ cells turn into sperm by meiosis
what is oogenesis
germ cells turn into eggs by meiosis
How does fertilization occur?
acrosome breaks through the corona radiata and fertilizes the egg which forms a zygote
