What is sociology?
It is the systematic and scientific study of the behavior of people in groups, social patterns, and aspects of social life related to society.
Who coined the term 'Sociological Imagination'?
C. Wright Mills.
What does the Sociological Imagination connect?
It connects private experiences and personal difficulties with the arrangements of society and historical times, or private problems/successes with broader public issues.
What does 'thinking sociologically' or understanding the Micro-Macro link involve?
It involves understanding how one's personal life is linked to larger social structures.
How would a sociological perspective explain getting fired from a job, as opposed to a purely personal explanation?
Instead of focusing on 'why me' or 'my boss hates me,' a sociological explanation would look at larger structures, such as the company taking too many accounts or needing to make pay cuts.
