How can you control the brightness of a shot?
Aperture (Bigger the opening the more light, the smaller the F-Stop)
Shutter Speed (Slower SS takes in more light)
ISO (Light sensitivity on digital sensor)
How do you know if a shot is overexposed?
Through the zebra stripe pattern on the screen.
What does aperture control?
Depth of field (Smaller aperture, wider depth of field)
Brightness (Amount of light)
What does shutter speed control?
The level of motion blur in the image.
Faster shutter speed = Less motion blur = Choppier look
What does ISO control?
When increasing the ISO it also increases the visual noise in the image. Making it more grainy
What is depth of field?
is the range of space in front of camera, within which the subject can be relatively in focus.
How do you control depth of field?
Focus Distance (How far away you are from the subject)
Focal Length (The kind of lens you are using)
Long lens = Shallower DOF
Aperture (Bigger the aperture, shallower depth of field)
If you are in sunlight what kind of white balance setting would you use?
A reddish kind of setting to counter balance the blue light from a clear day
How do you set your white balance
Select the custom white balance option
Get a completely white object
Make sure you are under the same lighting conditions
Fill the camera with the object
What is a pan camera movement
A horizontal movement when the camera is still
What is a tilt camera movement
A vertical movement when the camera is still
What is a zoom camera movement
A way to move in and out of 3D space when the camera is still
What is a lateral tracking camera shot
A horizontal movement where the camera is following the subject.
What is a crane camera shot
A vertical movement where the camera is following the subject
What is a dolly camera movement
A backwards or forwards camera movement where the camera can move in 3d space
What is diegetic sound
A sound that can be implied or seen to come from within the movie world
What is a non-diegetic sound
A sound that cannot be implied or seen to have come from the movie world
What types of microphone are there for recording sound in a shot
Camera Internal Mic
Camera External Mic
Boom Mic
Lavalier Mic
Plant Mic
What kind of microphone is the one that comes in the kit
Supercardioid
How do you sync sound and images
Slate
Post production software
Time code
