Monomer
A building block that can combine to from a larger substance (Amino Acids are monomers of proteins)
DNA is made up of monomers called..
nucleotides
Nucleotides are made up of 3 basic components:
5 Carbon sugar (Deoxyribose), A Phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.

What are the four nitrogenous bases that a nucleotide can have?
Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, and Thymine
What is the line between the phosphate and the sugar (deoxyribose)
Covalent bond (really storing and hard to break)

What bases goes with which?
A with T (Adenine and Thymine), and Guanine and Cytosine (G&C)
Double Helix
Two Chains of nucleotides will form a double helix, which sia twisted ladder shape. The other side is upside down (antiparallel)
Hydrogen bonds
Bring together the bases, and are easy and meant to be broken.
What are Purines
A & G, they are double ringed (have two hexagons)
What Are Pyrimidines?
C & T , they are single ringed.
What do purines bond with and why?
always have to bond with a pyrimidine.
Why cant A go with G?
?
