blood pressure measurment
systolic/diastolic
MAP (mean arterial pressure) formula
(SBP + 2DBP)/3
how to take a blood pressure
- Inflate cuff to exceed systolic pressure in artery usually to 200
- Release air in cuff until pressure in cuff matches systolic pressure (first hear noise)
- When no sounds are heard anymore, diastolic pressure value has been reached
Korotkoff sounds
series of sounds that correspond to changes in blood flow through an artery as pressure is released -
