Appearing in court
Drivers may be required to appear in court for serious violations
Failure to appear can result in license suspension

Crash Reports
File a report if:
Injury, death, property damage over 1500
If any driver is uninsured, the limit drops to 500
Report must be filed within 10 days to the IDOT
Failing to report results in license suspension
Leaving the Scene of a Crash
It’s illegal to leave if:
Injury or death; felony offense
Damage to vehicle; must exchange info and provide aid
Leaving the scene can result in license revocation, criminal charges, jail time
Unattended Vehicles
If you hit a parked vehicle or other property:
Stop and try to locate the owner
If you can’t find the owner: Leave a note with contact information
Notify local police
Safety Responsibility Law
Ensures that financially irresponsible pay for cash damages
Affected drivers may need to post security, satisfy judgments, or face license suspension
Financial Responsibility Law
Illinois requires liability insurance for all vehicles
Injury/death of one person: $25000
Injury/death of more than one person: $50000
Property damage: $20000
Must show proof of insurance during traffic stops, crashes, dmv visits
Driving without a license may result in a fine or suspension
Crash Prevention Courses
May be required after certain violations
Aim to improve driving behavior and reduce future violations
