Ensure the power is off before installation.
What is the first step when installing a line voltage thermostat?
Read the schematic and instructions provided with the thermostat.
What should you do after turning off the power?
Strip the insulation from circuit wires.
What is the third step in installing a line voltage thermostat?
Pigtail the grounds together and ground the box and the stat if it has a grounding lead.
What should you do with the ground wires?
Connect them to the wire leads or screw terminals marked 'line'.
Where do you connect the two feed wires (black and white in most 240 volt systems) entering the box from the power source?
It doesn't matter; they are both hot wires.
Does it matter which of the two leads marked ‘line’ the black or white wire connects to?
Connect them to the two wires marked 'load' on the thermostat.
Where do you connect the outgoing wires going to the baseboard (load wires)?
Tuck the wires in.
After connecting the outgoing wires, what should you do next?
