DU 16 contraindications
The spinal canal lies between 1.5 and 2 cun deep to the skin surface, varying according to body build
Deep perpendicular or superior oblique insertion is therefore strictly contraindicated
This point is contraindicated to moxibustion
DU 17 location
Directly (.75 cun) superior to the external occipital protuberance

2 branches?
Where does UB begin?
the inner canthus of the eye
Where does UB branch 1 go?
descends to the temples in the region surrounding the ear and intersecting the GB meridian
Where does UB branch 2 go?
From the vertex, into the brain, meets DU at 17 before splitting into two branches at UB 10
First UB branch (medial)
descends the posterior aspect of the neck intersecting DU 14 and DU 13 the descends the spine, 1.5 cun lateral to the midline
Penetrates deep into the interior connects with Kidneys and links to the bladder
The second UB branch (lateral)
separates at UB 10, descends medial border of the scapula and then parallel to the spine 3 cun laterally
Intersects at GB 30 in the thigh then meets with the first branch in the popliteal fossa at UB 40
terminates at UB 67 at the lateral side of the tip of the fifth toe where it meets the kidney meridian
UB Lou Connecting Meridian
Separates from primary channel at UB 58 and connects with the kidney channel
UB Divergent meridian
Diverges from the primary meridian in the popliteal foss and ascends to a point five cun inferior to the sacrum and then winds around the anus connecting with the bladder and dispersing in the kidneys
Ascends alongside the spine and disperses in the cardiac region
UB Sinew Meridian
Originates at the little toe past the lateral malleolus and binds at the lateral aspect of the knee. Splits into two at the heel and up the achilles
goes up the back and around the shoulder and binds at the root of the tongue. binds at LI 5 and GB 12 behind the ear.
