Process for identifying a roman numeral chord?

FIRST: identify the key signature

THEN: identify the chord (regardless of the root, based on the notes)

THEN: determine the roman numearl based on the chord + its position in the key signature

THEN: determine the inversion SOLELY BASED ON THE ROOT OF THE CHORD, and use the inversion hotline rule to figure out what’s next.

What does a slash in a number in figured bass tell you?

That that member of the chord above the bass has been raised.
