We should respond peaceful, nonviolently, and creativley. It should build equality, unity, and build the kingdom of God. One example involves turning your cheek when someone strikes you. This is because at this time when someone asserted power by striking someone on the right cheek with the back of the right hand. So Jesus is saying turn your cheek so that person striking you is forced to use the palm of his hand which gives you more ‘power’ back without bringing that person down. Another example is when you were pressed into service by a Roman for one mile, continue your ‘service’ for another mile on top of that. This is because at the time Romans could force someone to work for them like carry their armor for up to a mile. Anything more than a mile was illegal therefor working for 2 miles gives you power back because the Roman can’t let you do that so the Roman doesn’t get in trouble.

Regarding retaliation how do we respond, what is the result, and what are 2 examples?
