Motivation
The intensity, direction, and persistence of effort.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
A theory that proposes a sequence of needs: physiological, safety, belonging, esteem, and self-actualization.
Herzberg's Theory
Distinguishes between hygiene factors that prevent dissatisfaction and motivators that create satisfaction.
McClelland's Needs
Focuses on the need for achievement, power, and affiliation.
SMART Goals
Goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound to increase performance.
Self-efficacy
The belief in one's ability to succeed, which leads to higher performance.
Reinforcement
The principle that behavior is influenced by its consequences.
Equity Theory
A motivational theory that focuses on fairness and equity in comparisons with others.
Expectancy Theory
The theory that effort leads to performance, which leads to rewards, which have value.
